Earlier tonight, I was "tagged" by my online friend, Matt, at his blog Geeks R' Us.

Part of the deal is that I, in return, tag 7 other bloggers here in my little corner of the virtual world, as per the 'rules' as set out below:

So... the good sport I am... I am going against my slothful nature, and will respond to this taggerific challenge post-haste!

First... 7 random tidbits about myself... some may be known by some of you already, some not.

In no particular order:


1 - I used to have one hell of a temper, when I was a toddler/child. I'd get angry at my parents (mostly my dad) or my sister frequently, and would yell, scream, shout, cry, you name it. As I grew into teenager-hood, my short fuse with my dad remained, until one day when we were fighting over some ridiculous thing, and I made a conscious decision to not let the small stuff bother me anymore.

It was as easy as that... I just told myself to mellow out about the little things, and that was that. I can honestly say that since that day (I think I was 17 years old) the number of times I have felt angry, crazy, extremely frustrated, etc... I could count on one hand. I'm now a very mellow, casual, easy-forgiving guy.


2 - Speaking of my sister... the only person I have EVER struck in anger, in my life, is my sister. The two of us get along great now as adults.


3 - My online moniker "MothMan" comes from my line of work, which is a field supervisor for the Okanagan-Kootenay Sterile Insect Release Program.


4 - In a very direct way, I have my mother to thank for my interest in photography. My mother, unfortunately, died at the young age of 50, in 1998. A year or two after that, my sister and I were each given a small amount of money that was from my moms estate, to do with what we wanted.

I purchased a new TV, as my current one was on the verge of falling apart. (that same TV is still the only TV Lisa and I own). I put the bulk of the money into RRSP's. And the remainder I used to purchase a Canon EOS Elan II 35mm camera, 2 lenses, and a tripod.

Previous to that I had a passing interest in photography, but the only cameras I'd ever owned/used were point and shoot, which felt very limiting and boring to me.

Since buying that camera, I never looked back and fell in love with the hobby.


5 - The first time I kissed a girl was when I was in Grade 7, at the back of a school bus, on the way back home after a weekend field trip. Brandy McRoberts was her name.


6 - I've had one "best friend" in my life (not counting my wife), and for all 35 years of my life, he has been a TRUE friend to me. Despite me having moved around various places, we have always kept in touch, and he's always someone I can count on to back me up. He and his family are truly like they were my own family. Kevin, if you ever read this post, I love you man!!


7 - The first joint of the second toe of my left foot is screwed, and has been for years (since around 1995 or so). I remember the day it started hurting. I lived in Victoria at the time and had gone for a long walk... and part way back that toe started to ache. Ever since, that joint has been kind of seized up, is somewhat larger than it should be, and aches when there is a change in the weather. After walking for long periods of time, it hurts... and if I ever stub that toe, holy hell! The worst is occasionally, if I move/hit that toe wrong, the toe sort of partially dislocates and it hurts like a bugger.

It might be a case of arthritis or something... I dunno. I never got it checked out, and I'm quite sure that the damage is now irreparable. lol


So there you have it, 7 random tidbits about me.
